San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Cente

Historic Structure Report & Historic Interior Materials

Designed by Arthur Brown, Jr., and constructed in 1932, The War Memorial Veterans Building is the twin of the adjacent Opera House. Carey & Co., a TreanorHL company, served as the preservation architect for the $125 million rehabilitation. The project includes exterior repairs to the building envelope including terra cotta with a granite base, and seismic upgrade, new building systems, reconfi guration of some spaces, and upgrades for accessibility and sustainability.

Carey & Co. prepared a historic structure report, prepared construction documents for historic interior materials, and reviewed the entire project for conformance to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
