Municipal Auditorium Exterior Restoration

Kansas City, Missouri

1935 Auditorium Restored for Future

The design-build team of Konrath Group and Treanor Architects was selected to complete the exterior restoration of The Kansas City Convention Center’s Municipal Auditorium, originally built in 1935.

The $3 million project included the restoration of the historic building’s exterior limestone and ornamental metals while keeping Municipal Auditorium fully operational. Decorative metals on and around the building include doors, light poles, aluminum grilles, marquees, flag poles and windows. In addition to the masonry restoration, the project entails the design of exterior lighting improvements to complement the building’s majestic presence and respect the surrounding neighborhood.
